The Chikiriya clan, a wealthy merchant said to be the last merchant in Kyoto. The Chion House is the home of the 17th head of the family.

We renovated this historically valuable tea ceremony garden.

The garden was designed to be both functional and practical.
We balanced the usability of the tea garden with the beauty of the landscape.

For the entranceway, which is the face of the house, we created an original earthen floor.
